Look Polished and Save Time with Just Three Make-Up Products - and Link Up

Mid life blogger Gail Hanlon after using just three products to achieve a full but natural makeup

There's a make-up tutorial doing the rounds on Facebook and Instagram where a make-up artist in her 40s creates a fresh face using just three products. I'm not normally suckered in by any of those ads on Facebook but my curiosity was piqued. I took a look and saw that the Beauty Boutique sells a range of good quality products and the tutorial was quite compelling, given that Katie looks like the girl next door.
The three products for the makeover are Daniel Sandler's Watercolour Liquid Blush in Glow, which I've been meaning to try for ages; Veil Complexion Fix (said to be used by Jennifer Aniston) and a mascara.

I passed on the mascara but I did buy the Veil and the two Watercolour Blush colours. The second one is supposed to be optional but to my mind it really makes the make-up. You could easily get away with this one on its own and not bother with the other shade, Glow, which is used mostly for contouring and as an eyeshadow. In the pic at the top, you're seeing the finished result.

I won't go into the tutorial in huge detail - you can view it here. But basically, after preparing your skin in the normal way, you use Veil on your dark circles and areas you want to diminish.  You can get more coverage with additional coats, dotting it on and then patting it in quite quickly.

It's quite thin and didn't last very well for me, nor have many illuminating qualities. For a heavy duty concealer, I prefer Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Away Liquid Concealer. Below, this is after I have applied Veil.

Having applied your concealer, you then use the Watercolour Blush in Glow as a contourer. This blush is a liquid formula and less is more, so apply a drop to your hand and use it sparingly to start with.  You can also use this on your eyelids. It's a shimmery nude shade, shown below. I prefer the other shade, Flush, which is a pinkier colour, for the eyelids (finished image, at the top).

Mascara follows.  I normally use just three or four products for my daily work wear face and I always use an eyelash curler but rarely a mascara. I'm still finding that they all flake off after a few hours and turn me into a panda.

Katie then added the Watercolour Blush in Flush, a pretty pink, to the apples of her cheeks, and a little on the lips where it looks surprisingly good. I love this shade and will carry on using it - it gives a very fresh looking radiant blush.

In all, it's a fast and natural looking make-up and I'm thrilled with the Watercolour Blush.

An Alternative Three Product Make-Up

I have my own version of a three product fast make-up which is:

  • Darphin Melaperfect anti-dark spots correcting foundation
  • Watercolour Blush in Flush (as above)
  • Look Fabulous Forever Smooth Out Eye Primer

The foundation is so good that it dispenses with the need for a concealer. It's great at covering dark circles and pigmentation without looking thick and heavy like other full cover foundations. The blush is pretty and natural looking, and the eye primer is great for lightening eyelids which look dark (in my case).

  1. It's a very fresh and youthful look Gail. Interesting post. I haven't heard of the tutorial but do like Daniel Sandler's products.
