Accidentally On Trend - and Bold Colours

 & #WowonWednesday

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton in jade and bright apricot

Dear friends. Ever had that delightful epiphany when you discover you're accidentally on trend?  It happened to me twice this week.

The Sunday Times highlighted a trend for mixed metals in jewellery:  wearing different shades of gold together, or gold with silver.  I've been doing this since Christmas when I inadvertently asked for the "wrong" colour of gold.  My studs are yellow gold and rose gold, although it's not immediately noticeable from the photo.

And then I read that the Mary-Jane shoe is having a resurgence.  This is great news for those of us who no longer wear high heels.  The Mary-Jane is a solid piece of engineering and usually has a moderate block heel. I was given a pair in gold for my birthday.

Colour Challenge: Spring Garden.  Be Bold with Colour!

Did spring garden flowers "spring" to mind when you saw the outfit above?  It's for the colour of the month challenge over at Kettlewell's Facebook group, spring flowers. There's a beautiful tulip called Apricot Beauty, and that's what I was thinking of.

My green is jade, in the Kettlewell ruched skirt and Pippa top, and I've added orange with a papaya scarf and the bright apricot short tie wrap.

Or how about this one:

Lime green and purple with a hint of yellow in this spring-flower themed outfit for Is This Mutton over-60 blogger Gail Hanlon

Here I'm masquerading as a pansy. Or possibly an iris.  Anyway, I'm wearing another ruched skirt in aptly-named Pansy, with a Pansy essential V neck. Matching a top to a skirt creates a dress, plus a column of colour which is very slimming.,

There's a splash of yellow in the necklace and KW limoncello belt, and more lime with the mini Poppy bag from the Cambridge Satchel Co.

Wear bold colors over 60. Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton shows you how

If your eagle eyes have spotted a pile of tea cloths behind the door,  DH had just washed the car and left them for the washing machine slave  (me).

Hoping for some good spring weather this weekend as I head down to Plymouth to spend a few days with Mum, including Mother's Day.  It's been a long, cold winter. The forecast looks abysmal however.

Are you embracing spring colours yet?  Do let us know in the comments. And also if you've found yourself on trend, accidentally!
