First Cut Since Lockdown

 

What a difference a new haircut and colour makes.  On Monday I had a day off work to spend a pleasurable four hours catching up with Jodie. After a full head of highlights and permanent base was applied, followed by a pale pink glaze, my hair was cut quite a bit shorter. 

We Will Miss Philip - and Link-Up

 

The last few days have been fairly momentous in the UK.  The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, died on Friday just two months short of his 100th birthday.  And on Monday, the gradual relaxing of lockdown restrictions reached an important stage with non-essential retail, hairdressers and gyms able to reopen, and pubs and restaurants able to host people outdoors.

 With the easing of lockdown restrictions comes a slight sense of dread for the introverts and shy, myself among them, who have enjoyed a year without any enforced socialising in large groups.

Background Update:  For the last 12 months I've been covering the UK Covid situation in my Sentence a Day posts.  In March 2021,  we are still in lockdown - a slight easing of the rules for England came later in the month but means only that six people can meet outdoors:  no pubs or restaurants, or non-essential shops, are open yet.  We are told to work from home if we can, and not to leave our local area. The vaccination program is going extremely well but the UK still heads the chart showing the highest number of deaths per million of population, worldwide.
