Buttoned Up: Style Not Age Challenge

Dear friends. It's time for the Style Not Age Challenge and this month it's my turn.  We're Buttoned Up!

If you're not familiar with this challenge, five style bloggers over 45 tackle a different one each month.
I shopped my wardrobe and am wearing a jumper (old, River Island) with shoulder buttons plus a skirt that buttons up the front  (old, Asos).  I added a pre-loved Kettlewell scarf in Papaya and their neon  orange belt for a pop of colour.  Boots, old, from M&S.

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton is Buttoned Up in the latest Style Not Age Challenge, wearing a white jumper with shoulder buttons and a patterned b&w skirt with an abstract print. Pops of orange from a scarf and belt.

The jumper and skirt have been two of my best ever buys because I wear them a lot - very versatile. Black and white is always a reliable combination and as long as you wear a flattering colour near the face, it's possible for women of all seasons to wear it.

It's not a pure snow white, more of an off-white or ivory, which is less draining on me.

Now let's see how my style friends got on.  Anna from Anna's Island Style found her Jaeger linen top in a charity shop find for just five pounds. When she got home she discovered it had a scorch mark on the sleeve. That was a few years ago and Anna dropped it into her sewing/mending pile. Fast forward to last year when she had a sewing urge and decided to try to renovate it.

The result is some decoupage from an old floral blouse that has covered the sleeve issue perfectly. She also decided to change all the buttons to tie in with our challenge and is justifiably delighted with the result. Anna's jeans are Primark and boots are Converse.

Hilda from Over the Hilda shopped her wardrobe and found a barely worn jacket from Zara. She discovered she liked it buttoned up as more of a top. So Hilda thanked me for making her think outside the box.  Her jeans are from Next.

Emma from Stylesplash didn't go for just buttons but upped the ante with a button print shirt.  The shirt is from Salamander Shirts and the jacket from Pom Amsterdam (via Thrift+). Trousers from H&M. The faux fur bag was a TK Maxx purchase.

Jacqui from Mummabstylish found these stylish light cotton trouser with buttons on the side to fasten them. She paired them with a chunky grey roll neck, white trainers and a grey cross body bag.

Five very different looks, hope you enjoyed them! Head over to each girl's blog to see more pics and info.
