Royals to the Rescue

 And #TuesdayTwirl

Dear friends. When I was working I had two secret weapons for breaking the ice with my international colleagues at various meet ups. Eurovision was one, the European royals was another.

In those days I read Hello magazine mainly to stay up to date with Princess Stephanie of Monaco. Not only did she marry one of her bodyguards, she ran off to join a circus and trained to be a lion tamer.

All very exciting compared to the rather sedate British royals.

I was thrilled to read that Norway's infant terrible,  Princess Martha Louise, is on a similar trajectory to Stephanie.

Martha Louise has long had an eccentric reputation. She withdrew from official royal duties and relinquished her style of Royal Highness in 2002 to pursue work in “alternative therapies”, including opening a training centre for clairvoyants commonly known as the “angel school”.

She is married to a shaman who claims to be half Reptilian. Thrillingly they will be taking part in a reality show called Alternative Norway. Let's hope it makes it to Netflix. In these depressing times, where rage seems to be the norm, a little escapism with the royals is just the ticket.

Today's outfits are a mixture of Yes and No's from a Next haul. As it was a try on, I haven't styled anything and I'm not wearing makeup.

Last week I wrote about summer fashion being disappointing. I found a few pieces online to try. I tried a style of dress that I know doesn't suit me, but i occasionally try different styles on the off chance.

It's a pretty dress but too long and fussy for me, plus the colours don't flatter.

I had high hopes for a more colourful and streamlined t-shirt dress but it was thin material and a bit shapeless.

Fortunately the haul included this pair of Lipsy polka dot shorts, which are keepers. Polka dots are very "in" and the neutral colours go with everything.  Here I'm wearing a mock tee by Kettlewell in a warm red, Hibiscus.

Do you occasionally try styles which don't suit you, just in case you're missing out? And do you have a favourite royal from the other countries? Do tell in the comments.

  1. I'm glad you kept the shorts as they look great. Our king and queen are pretty scandalous free. Which is boring, lol.
