Orange: Would You?

 And #TuesdayTwirl

Over 60s blogger Gail Hanlon in orange jacket and ditsy print with yellow trousers

Dear friends. Orange is a bit divisive.  You either love it or hate it.  It's a warm colour and definitely doesn't flatter if you are cool toned.  It's also quite attention seeking, perhaps in a different way to red, which stands for passion, power and confidence.

A few years ago, when I briefly considered myself cool toned, I didn't go near orange.  When one of the challenges I was participating in had an orange theme, I procured an orange bag.

But now I love it, from shades like apricot through to bright orange.

My latest acquisition is a gorgeous Jasmine top from Kettlewell in a vibrant ditsy print.  I don't often wear prints but this one really turned my head. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get one because it had sold out very quickly in most sizes including mine. Undeterred I bought it in size 8  (US size 6), and fortunately it fits perfectly.

I wore it with my Kettlewell Darla jacket in Terracotta Orange to an event at House Beautiful on Summer Table Scaping. The yellow chinos are last year's, from M&S.  Yellow is still trending so there are plenty of yellow trousers and jeans around. Vegan orange bag from Fenella Smith.

As you read this, I'm probably reclining on a sun lounger on the Greek island of Skiathos. This top was definitely in the suitcase.

The table scaping event, with a cocktail demonstration, was very enjoyable. I went with Annemarie, whose YouTube you must check out.

Below is the "maximalist" table scape which I liked the most. Annemarie liked the more minimalist tonal look. Both were the work of Emily Henson, @lifeunstyled, an interiors author and designer. Both feature cute lamps from Pooky which are charged by USB, so ideal for the garden. What a great idea.

Another cool tool was the "flower frog," which is a small cone filled with spikes, on which you impale flowers at different heights. You can buy these on Amazon.

The minimalist look:

We rounded off the evening at All Bar One and I relaxed my normal eating rules with a burger and chips. You can see how the orange actually accentuates the warmth of my skin tone.

Is orange a colour you ever wear? Are you into table scaping. and you prefer a maximalist or minimalist look? Do tell in the comments.
