Pink and Grey: Oh I Say!

 And Tuesday Twirl

Is This Mutton celebrates the combination of pink and grey

Dear friends. It's a classic colour combination and there's a pink and grey for everyone. We went out for lunch on Sunday and this is what I wore.

The chinos are in dove grey from Kettlewell, a light neutral which is great for nearly all of us  (those analysed Winter benefit from a darker charcoal grey).  I'm wearing them with a pale peach silky crew neck, Rachel jacket in Confetti and tutti frutti leopard belt, all Kettlewell (I should be on commission!).

Is This Mutton creates an autumn outfit in pink and grey

The silky tops are perfect for layering as the weather gets colder. They aren't bulky at all. My coral bag is from Pom Pom London and the shoes are old, from Joe Brown's.

If you've been seasonally analysed, fuchsia with charcoal is perfect for Winter;  for Autumn I'd look at  Antique Rose or Pink Coral with Silver Birch or Light Dove Grey.  A good pink and grey for Summer is Shocking Pink  or Amethyst with Moonstone, Silver or Light Dove Grey.

Makeup:  Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation in Shade 4; Nars Creamy Concealer in 2.3 Madeleine; No 7 Fanomenal Eye Palette; Lancome Hypnose Mascara in black; Bobbi Brown Pot Royge in Calypso Coral;  lipstick English Rose by Max Factor.

Is pink and grey a go-to combination for you?  Do tell in the comments.

December Outfits

 And Wow on Wednesday

Is This Mutton in what she's been wearing so far this month

Dear friends. This post brings back memories of when I was working and used to take pictures of my outfits, taking care to snap them before the rest of my colleagues arrived in the office.

I was taking part in the Kettlewell Colour Club 12 Days of Christmas challenge.  I like this annual challenge because it encourages you to dig deep in your wardrobe each day.

Getting the Total Look

 And Wow on Wednesday

Is This Mutton's signature style is a tonal look with colourful footwear, hosiery and jewellery. She calls it The Total Look

Dear friends. If there's one thing I look forward to when the weather gets cooler, it's The Total Look.  This is when I achieve a tonal, or contrasting, look from head to toe, with everything co-ordinating. No black shoes or handbags for me when I could choose purple or rose gold!

Ways with Bouclé

 And #WowOnWednesday

Is This Mutton styles boucle, or lady, jackets several ways

Dear friends. Bouclé, or Lady Jackets, are having a bit of a moment. It's hard to find an actual definition, but to me a lady jacket is a short jacket with a round collar and fancy buttons. They're very versatile and can be used to dress up jeans, or popped over a dress.

Here are some styling ideas for two of my lady jackets.

Life Lately: Is This Mutton

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton in peacock patterned skirt, green short tie wrap, bright apricot top and rose gold ankle boots.

Dear friends. It was so wet at the weekend that I reached for boots and a raincoat for a trip to the Royal Opera House to see the Australian Ballet in Jewels. It's like autumn.

The bad weather we've been experiencing for weeks hasn't come as a surprise to me. I remember lots of summers like this. Sometimes it was so bad we would be nostalgic for "that lovely bank holiday in May."

Moto Jacket 6 Ways

 & WowOnWednesday

Over 60s blogger Gail Hanlon in cream moto jacket worn over a jade green ruched skirt and top

Dear friends. I'm a great believer in snapping up duplicates if you find a garment that's perfect.  If it's available in different colours, all the better.

I love the Kettlewell Chloe jacket for its versatility - and colours! I now have six. I started with one in lavender, followed by jewel blue. I then found a pre-loved Chloe in soft white. This season, the jacket reappeared after a year long hiatus, and I went a bit mad and bought three in island green, cream and soft yellow.

Blue Cashmere Jumper 2 Ways

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton in Royal Cobalt cashmere jumper from Lands' End

 & WowOnWednesday

Dear friends. One thing I find very hard to resist is anything made of cashmere.  I remember buying my first cashmere jumper a few years ago (black, ribbed) and realising anything else would always feel inferior.

So when Land's End got in touch to offer a coat, I managed to persuade them to make it a cashmere jumper. A great decision - I'm very impressed with this crew neck jumper in Royal Cobalt.

Cord Pinafore 3 Ways

A cord pinafore styled three ways by over 60 style blogger Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton. Shown here is the pinafore worn with purple

Dear friends. Strange but true: I have never worn dungarees, and the only pinafore dress I had was when I was seven. So I deliberately chose a cute corduroy pinafore dress when Cotton Traders kindly asked me to select two items to style.
