Style Not Age: Denim Directions

Is This Mutton over-50s blog interprets the challenge Denim Directions with a knee length denim dress and tartan tights
Here we are again, the Style Not Age collective, and this month it's my challenge, Denim Directions. The reason I chose denim as the subject is that there's so much of it around in many guises. There  are dresses, jumpsuits, boiler suits, jackets of many hues.  And jeans come in every cut imaginable - straight, boyfriend, boot leg, flared, cropped and there are no firm rules about which style is "in." So we can all look great in the style of jeans that suits us best.
I have never had a denim dress and was immediately taken by this dress from Sosandar. It's fastened with poppers and is a flattering knee length with three-quarter length sleeves. As it's still quite chilly, I'm wearing it with tartan tights and pink boots.

Now I actually took two sets of photos, about three weeks apart.  The first set was ditched, apart from the image at the top, because the handbag just didn't look right with the outfit - it's too formal. But I liked that photo so it stayed in.  In the other pictures, the cross-the-body-bag was a cheap find at Amazon.

I have long been wanting a pair of pink boots and finally tracked these down from a US online retailer.

Now let's see how my friends got on. Jacqui from Mummabstylish is sharing a new boiler suit from Matalan. I love how her bright orange faux suede biker jacket and rainbow shoes "pop" against the blue of the denim and the sky.

Emma from Style Splash has shopped her wardrobe to give a glamorous spin to a denim jacket that's around 15 years old. The culottes were picked up in Marks and Spencer a few years ago. Leopard print accessories add a great twist of style.

Anna from Anna's Island Style is showing a mix of pre-loved and high street fashion - boots, shirt and kimono are second hand and the jeans are from TK Maxx (a couple of years ago).
Hilda from Over The Hilda shows how to style jeans in a stylish way while staying warm in her leopard print top and faux fur gilet.
