Early Buys for Autumn/Fall

Is This Mutton blogger Gail Hanlon has a list of must-haves for autumn 2020 and rose gold boots are on the list. These are from Hush

I know a lot of you will be appalled at the idea of buying for autumn/fall, but it's a good move if you're after a winter coat, parka, technical rain wear or boots that are likely to be highly sought after. All of these tend to sell out fast.
I love summer as much as anyone but I keep a beady eye out for the new season drops.  To try to keep my shopping focused I have a list of "must haves" to fill gaps in my wardrobe.  There aren't many this year:  a pair of gold ankle boots;  a new parka to replace my old burgundy one which has a ripped lining;  a new hiking rain jacket; some athleisure for relaxing at home, and a new pistachio cashmere cardigan to replace an old one.

I've ticked all of these off!  First up:| athleisure.  I couldn't resist this ivory and pastel tracksuit at Nike.  I snapped it up in July and it's already sold out. I t will be great for cosy nights in.

I am often drawn to winter white and pale colours for winter.  It has more of a lux look than it does in summer.  I was excited to find this Zaneck parka from the North Face for £130 instead of £260. It's stylish and hard working with a lot of technology in the Gore Tex to repel the rain.  I like the elastic ties at the waist which create definition, and the hood with fur is detachable for washing.

You will have noticed I'm sure the rose gold boots.  Be still my beating heart.  Hush has produced these Penrose ankle boots in stand out colours for the last couple of years - Nikki from Midlife Chic has them in red and blue.  This year it's rose gold, and I'm sure they'll sell out very quickly even though they're pricey at £185.  I don't mind splashing out occasionally because I wear boots for years, and I'm trying to buy less these days but higher quality.  See my boot collection here.

Something else I've bought, to aid my intention to carry on walking into winter, is a seriously technical rain jacket from specialist outdoor brand Montane.  As we've learnt many times in the Lake District, there's no wrong weather - only the wrong clothing.

  1. Oh more ankle boots! I'm addicted to them. That's a good parka too! I have some items in my Zara cart. This Monday is my birthday and I'm going to shop a bit then!
