White and Cream Jeans Styled 3 Ways

 & #TuesdayTwirl

Is The Mutton shares ideas for styling white and ecru jeans in autumn

Dear friends. I haven't been wearing jeans for a while. It was too hot. But now the weather is cooling down, jeans, and specifically white jeans, are the perfect choice.

I love the myriad styling options with white jeans.  During the day, when it's still warm, a t-shirt or blouse;  in the evening add a jacket, jumper/sweater or long cardigan.

Here are three styling ideas for white and ecru jeans.

Above and below:  my new Cleo v-neck jumper in kelly green from Kettlewell with new Wolf-in-Green brogues from Justin Reess, Spring scarf from My Season and Sienna Supersoft High Waisted jeans from Marks and Spencer.

I love these jeans:  they're a flattering shape, not too clingy and a suitably robust cotton not to show underwear.  They're available in several colours.

V-necks used to be my favourite but I find them a bit too revealing now so I like to fill the gap with a natty scarf or necklace.  This jumper is neat and not too long, ideal for my gamine style personality. I've sized down, it's an extra small.

The shoes are from a brand new to me, but my word, what a selection!  So many delicious shoes and boots.  It seems the secret is not to delay, because some of the new styles have sold out already.

New Buys?  I'm Unapologetic. Here's Why

I know many of you will be doing "Secondhand September," and I respect you for that, but I am unapologetic about a few new buys for Fall / Autumn.

As I've said before, if we only ever bought second hand, thousands of women in retailers would be out of a job.  Also, we need to be taking our unworn clothes to charity shops.  It's all very well selling them for tuppence on Vinted, but charity shops are running out of quality clothes. The whole point is the word "charity."  With the cost of living squeeze, many charities are really struggling now with the awful clothes people donate. So while I buy from Vinted and eBay, I take most of my unworn clothes to local charity shops.

White jeans with a fun bomber jacket and sandals

Next up, white jeans with a cute bomber jacket. I've had the jacket for several years.  The sleeveless blouse came from eBay, irresistible to me because of the turquoise colour and Peter Pan collar. Sandals from Moshulu, bag in vegan leather from Fenella Smith. You can't see it but I'm wearing a bright green leather belt (Kettlewell) to harmonise with the green of the jacket.

One colour that's already making its presence felt for autumn is brown. There are lots of rich hues.  For the warm toned among us, it's a much better choice than black.

Nothing is new in this outfit. I bought the coffee Roxy jacket pre-loved: it was a style I wanted to try and I like it. The combination of brown, lime green, cream jeans, a pop of cheetah and gold is a lux one, perfect for sliding into autumn.

Cheetah belt and lime everyday tee from Kettlewell;  ecru barrel jeans from M&S  (size down, they're huge),  gold boots (old) Oliver Bonas.  Stone bag from Pom Pom London.

Below: the garden wasn't very spectacular this year, I didn't plant up any containers but relied on perennials. It will be different next summer as I'm planning some garden improvements so that I'm proud of the space again.

I'd advise caution before racing into warmer clothes. Summer is fleeting, in the UK;  autumn and winter together are long. Add warmth to summer dresses with cardis and jackets (and polo necks later on). I've packed my shorts away but I'm still wearing summer skirts.

What do you find yourself wearing at this time of year?  Summer clothes still, or adding a bit of long sleeved goodness in the chillier evenings?  Do tell in the comments.
