Sequins on Holiday

And Wow on Wednesday

GailHanlon from Is This Mutton in lime green on holiday in Greece

Dear friends. We're back after a fabulous 10 days on the idyllic Greek island of Skiathos.

It was our seventh visit and yes, I've already booked for next year. We're seasoned travellers and have been to several other Greek islands, as well as beach holidays in Hawaii, Italy, Turkey and Portugal. But Skiathos ticks all our boxes - and indeed the lengthy list of criteria.

I'll be sharing more about the holiday in my review of June, next Friday, but in the meantime, here's one of my evening outfits.

Skiathos is a laid back place and no-one tends to dress up, but I like to take at least one sequin top.  I spotted this beaut in one of my favourite colours last summer, at M&S. I'm wearing it with crops from Roman and my ultra-comfortable sandals from Vionic. Plus my new prescription Gucci sunglasses from Boots. They're a bit spendy but well worth it.

Don't be wary of wearing cropped trousers with sequins on holiday if you're over 60. Is This Mutton shows how to do it.

I wore this particular outfit to one of our favourite restaurants on Skiathos, the Windmill, high up with views over the town and bay. It was our 14th wedding anniversary.

We tend not to take too many pictures now because we'd rather be in the moment, but I wish we'd had a couple of pics taken of us in the Windmill. Ah well. Below. on the water taxi.  It's a 10 minute journey from our hotel to the main town.

A relaxing beach holiday is a must for me and we usually go in June before the school holidays. Our next holiday will certainly be a bit different:  cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats, 1,189 miles. We'll be in an organized group with our baggage transferred each day.  Still, it's quite daunting, particularly in terms of packing. No huge suitcase, as I took to Skiathos, with the priority being cycling clothes for all weathers.

What are your holiday plans?  Do you like to dress up on holiday?  Do tell in the comments.

December is for Dressing Up!

Dear friends. Welcome to the last Style Not Age Challenge of the year.  It was my turn to set the prompt, and I went with "December is for Dressing Up." We usually have a festive attire prompt in December - see previous challenges below.

I am always looking for a gold skirt and sequins in "my" spring colours, so I was thrilled to find this faux leather skirt from Never Fully Dressed.  It has a tie belt which is useful for pulling the waist in, as this type of  material can be a bit rigid.

I found the lime sequin top back in the summer at M&S and knew it would be pressed into service over Christmas!

The boots are also a current season purchase from Oliver Bonas. The bag is an old purchase from New Look. I use it on our summer holiday because it's quite spacious!

I'm not wearing this outfit today, Christmas Day.  It's just me and hubs today and he would think I'd gone mad if I appeared wearing this. Tomorrow there will be 8 of us for Boxing Day and I'll probably wear a (tasteful) Christmas jumper.

Let's see how the other members of the Style Not Age collective got on. Anna from Anna's Island Style is wearing a Christmas present from her son, a silver and gold trouser suit by Lavish Alice. Boots are old, silver and white sequin top is a charity shop find and all jewellery is old.

This is what Hilda from Over the Hilda is wearing today. A stylish but comfortable co-ords set from FRNCH, current.

Jacqui from Mummabstylish has a splash of festive red with trousers from Tu via Vinted, shirt borrowed from her daughter, shoes New Look and beads a present from one of the children when they were at school.

Emma from Stylesplash is suffering from a cold - get well soon - but still looks fabulous.  Shes wearing River Island sequin trousers (bought last year), a top from Dona Hortensia in Funchal, SkinnyDip London bag and old New Look boots.

Hope you enjoyed our festive finery.  Thee are more pics on the other girls' blogs. What are you wearing today and tomorrow? Do share in the comments.  Something special, a fun Christmas jumper, PJs?

All that remains is to wish you a wonderful Christmas and festive celebration.  Pop back on Wednesday for another new post, and a review of December and 2023 on Friday.
