The Ella skirt comes in three different colourways. I chose the "summer" variation because I like the midnight blue background and the colors of the dots. Kettlewell specialises in colours for people who have been colour analysed, and want to wear their best shades all the year round.
My first choice was styling it with a violet cowl neck top, also from Kettlewell, and silver metallic boots. In the summer I will wear the skirt bare legged with sandals, but it's still a bit cold in March. I have been looking for brightly coloured 10 denier tights - remember those from the 80s? - but there are none to be found. At this time of year opaque tights, even at 40 denier, look a bit heavy. The tights I'm wearing are metallic lurex in blue, although you can't see that very well.
I also styled the skirt with pink and white. The spots on the skirt include pink and also turquoise for future variations. The skirt has an elasticated waist so it's very comfortable for working at home, more so than jeans I would say.
I'm wearing my pink metallic boots which took me forever to track down online: eventually I found them at US online retailer FSJ where they're still on sale. I'm also wearing another new Kettlewell purchase, a cotton cashmere wrap in cerise pink, their infinity scarf in fuchsia ice, and their soft white silky scoop neck top.
Since joining the Kettlewell colour club on Facebook - which is an amazingly supportive and friendly group - I've learnt a couple of things about applying your seasonal colours. I am still to try the really bold contrasts which a lot of the lovely ladies do. But I've learnt that the more you buy in your particular colours, the more you can layer up and create impact.
Which of the two colourways is your favourite?

Mary from The Pouting Pensioner is blogging again, hurrah, and her post "What Would Grace Wear - Blazer and Jeans" was popular. It looks increasingly unlikely that we will have any foreign holidays this year in the UK. Although the vaccination programme is going very well, and most countries have indicated we will be welcome with vaccinations and/or a negative test, Europe is in a bad way with soaring infection rates in most countries. Sadly, I postponed our July holiday in Skiathos to next year. But I can still dream of travel and that's why I loved Mary Katherine's post about her weekend getaway to Covington, Cincinatti: My first post-vaccination getaway
I never heard of that Kettlewell site. I looked at it and it's great! I love to shop by color. I can't say I can choose a favorite outfit. Like both a lot!
ReplyDeleteYou should try the FB group too Nancy. There's a Live every Friday at 1300 UK, which is fascinating!
DeleteBoth outfits are lovely but I think my favourite is the pink. It's so pretty and perfect for Spring. Keep safe and well 🌈💕
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandy! Good to see you x
DeleteWhat a great skirt - hip slimming cut and a choice of colours to match up. Your stylings are perfect for this skirt, love ‘em. The 80s lurid tights, not so much!
