More ways with a gingham skirt

Styling a gingham skirt with a cashmere cardigan for cooler summer nights and with Converse trainers for a casual look
I've been getting good wear out of my gingham skirt this summer. You first saw it here, although I didn't keep that skirt in the end, it had too much fabric. Instead I went for one from Marks and Spencer, which is featured today and also here on holiday.
A cropped cashmere cardi, in many colours from Boden, is a warm alternative to a top as the weather inevitably gets cooler.
Fuchsia pink is definitely one of my favourite colours, and now that we've passed the Summer Solstice and August is nearly here, we'll soon be needing cardigans and sweaters. So I paired the skirt with a cropped cashmere cardigan from Boden and pink sandals with silver block heels from Topshop. Bag from Asos, sunglasses Ray-Ban, necklace Topshop.
For an evening prom in the park, a cashmere cropped cardi is ideal along with block heeled sandals and your favourite sunglasses

Black and white gingham goes with anything, and fuchsia pink is always a striking colour to choose. Pair it with a white clutch and block heeled pink sandals.
I saw one of the younger bloggers wearing Converse with her gingham skirt, so I thought I'd try it. To be honest this is a look that will never really work on me because my legs are not slender enough. I'm wearing another item which has more than proved its value this summer, my white denim jacket* from Bonmarché, and some long gold chains.
Create a more casual, edgier look to your gingham skirt by adding pristine Converse and a white denim jacket

I have been trying to wear different shoes with my skirts lately. Although my sneakers are lower cut than yours---that might make a difference??

  8. Girl, you totally rocked that converse-gingham skirt outfit! Owned it! Love that confident, sly little smile.

I really want to be the gal who can wear her cardis buttoned-up. Without gaps! Ha! Maybe that needs to go on my fall bucket list? Autumn goals? That vibrant pink is beautiful on you from tip to toe.

    1. Leslie you're so slim a buttoned up cardi would look wonderful on you. I'm going to join you with this bucket list thing. I'd love to wear a dress like the one you showed last week with all the tassels!

  9. Gail. This is an beauty pairing. The pink brings the skirt alive and its so much more you than the first skirt as it's more lively and the length is just right to showcase your attractive legs. Well done, love it! Mary x.

  10. I'm impressed you braved a trip to a Top Shop store. Last time I went into one (years ago) it was so busy with shoppers and had such a wide range of clothing on display I didn't know where to start, it did my head in and I had to leave. Is it time I revisited or do they have a really good website, hmmmmn?

    1. It's the website- I hardly ever go into stores these days. Topshop have some great finds for the older girl.

  13. I love this bold pink with the gingham. I'd happily wear all of it.

Like you I don't find I can wear sneakers well with a skirt because my legs aren't slim enough.

  14. Gingham and hot pink are a marriage made in heaven Gail! I love those shoes too - what fab heels. I do like the jeans jacket and boots as it's quite funky. My legs are not slim enough to carry this off though.
