Style Not Age Challenge: Comfy Casuals

Jumping for joy - Is This Mutton style blogger Gail Hanlon in leggings and sweatshirt from Yoga Leggs

It's that time again - the Style Not Age challenge. This month Jacqui from Mummabstylish threw down the gauntlet "Comfy Casuals."

This is very apt during the current lockdown. Most of us are dressing casually, perhaps with a bit of "top dressing" (nice top, jogging bottoms) for work video calls.

Most of the time I wear jeans and a t-shirt or athleisure - leggings, top and sweatshirt. I start the day with a walk or a workout, either the live Joe Wicks PE session or my own workout using a step, mat and weights. I'm working full-time, from home, and my job involves a lot of video calls, but employees were always casually dressed. If I'm in an important call, I'll wear make-up and a good top, but really, all this fuss about looking your best for Zoom calls is a bit irrelevant in the scheme of the things.

The leggings and sweatshirt both come from a local small business, Yoga Leggs.  I love their leggings - they're high waisted and in a soft but stretchy material so they flatter every figure and hide muffin tops. I tried a couple of pairs of much pricier leggings from Nike recently and they were awful - the material was nowhere near as good quality. The wording on the top reads "Dance like Nobody's Watching," which is what I do on Sundays listening to Sounds of the Seventies with Johnnie Walker!

For the April Style Not Age Challenge Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton is sporting Comfy Casuals - light green sweatshirt and camo leggings

Let's see how my friends got on. Here's Emma from StyleSplash looking stylish and relaxed in utility trousers from River Island, what she describes as "a really old jumper from Dorothy Perkins", old wedge espadrilles from Clarks and a bag she bought in Abu Dhabi a few years ago.

Below, Anna from Anna's Island Style has a flamboyant pair of trousers with (heaven!) an elasticated waistband, and a thin polo neck which is comfy without being too hot. Everything was bought last year from TK Maxx, apart from the necklace which was a charity shop find.

Jacqui from Mummabstylish  says she's wearing jeans much of the time at the moment. Here she is in three-quarter length chino style trousers, with a non-crease layered chiffon camo patterned top over a black vest top.  She has worn kitten heel courts, but it looks just as good with baseball trainers.

Hilda from Over the Hilda says she's got bored with wearing jeans all the time so here she is in a very cool pair of gingham trousers (pants) and a newish Zara jumper.
