Festive Finery: Style Not Age Challenge

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton in festive finery for the Style Not Age Challenge - lemon maribou trimmed jumper and lilac leopard tulle skirt

The Style Not Age Challenge prompt for this month was from me, and it's Festive Finery.  Thoughts are turning now to Christmas and the various forms of festive dressing required.  There are no parties or glitzy occasions planned but I like to dress up a bit on Christmas Day, in a stylish but comfortable outfit.

I've shopped my wardrobe and am wearing a lemon sweater with maribou trimmed sleeves, from Uterque (last seen here), a lilac leopard tulle skirt bought from @devoted_to_style_ on Instagram.  The boots are from Amazon. They are a bit too slouchy for my liking but it's nigh on impossible to find purple boots! The tassel necklace is from Etsy.

It was very cold on the day I took the pictures and originally I planned to take them indoors. The conservatory, where I usually take pictures, is largely Mr Mutton's domain as he his PC is here and also his trainer bike  (similar to Peloton) which apparently necessitates a powerful fan under the desk. So my interior shots were marred by what East Londoners call his "tut" - or clutter - so I had to dash outside and take photos quickly before my nose went red.  The shot below was cropped to remove all signs of  tut!

Now let's see what festive finery my blogging friends have rustled up. Like me, they all shopped their closets.  Anna, from Anna's Island Style,  is wearing a gorgeous top with sequins from New Look. The trousers were a sewing project from a couple of years ago where she chopped the bottoms off of a £1 pair of charity shop velvet trousers and added the beaded flower trims by hand - a labour of love! Those pretty  boots were bought from Asos a long time ago.

Jacqui from Mummabstylish has chosen the winning combination of black and red. Her dress is old from F & F, but being velour always looks like new.  The red coat came from M & Co a few years ago.  The bag was from Oasis.

Hilda from Over the Hilda shopped her wardrobe except for the sumptuous green velvet jacket, bought from a local boutique. Her boots are from ASOS, a present from her daughter.  Hilda found the ideal setting in the hotel where she and Graham went for lunch, which had a Christmas tree.

Finally all-out glamour from Emma of Stylesplash. Her jacket is another fabulous eBay find (how does she do it?), the velvet trousers are from Very. The velvet bag is old (Asos, but also bought on eBay),  headband from Asos and necklace from Aldo.

I hoped you enjoyed our festive finery!  I'll be back on Wednesday with #WowOnWednesday, and on Friday with #FridayFavourites.  It's a busy week - and my first back at work, after my month-long sabbatical.
