Sparkle and Shine: Style Not Age Challenge

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton in Sparkle and Shine for the December 2022 Style Not Age Challenge

Dear friends.  it's fitting that the Style Not Age Challenge is "Sparkle and Shine."

I was initially a bit panicky because I didn't think I had enough sparkly clothes to make an outfit.  I've been trying to pare down my wardrobe,  to make it more suitable for my lifestyle. A few sequin items have already found their way to a charity shop.

But I remembered a silver sequin skirt, intended for thrifting, which I thought would go well with my white embellished duster coat. I've only worn the duster once but it's so beautiful I don't think I could get rid of it.

A white embellished duster coat and silver sequin skirt create a sparkly outfit for Is This Mutton blogger Gail Hanlon

I capitalized on the few days of snow that we had, although with hindsight, my white boots disappear, so I should have worn my pink ones!

Duster (old) from Asos, top Kettlewell Colours, boots (old) Russell & Bromley, silver skirt, last year, French Connection. Necklace: Etsy. Bag, current, John Lewis.

Let's see how my challenge friends got on.

Anna, from Anna's Island Style,  who came up with this month's theme, always does colour and sparkle so well. This is the outfit she wore for her staff Christmas party at the local pub, with live music and dancing.

She's wearing a sequin jacket, new with tags on from Zara, but found in the British Red Cross shop in Truro. Her Ted Baker skirt is old and the shoes are charity shop finds too from a few years ago.

Anna is wearing a sheer body with devore velvet pattern, very old, from TK Maxx. Her sparkly belt was also from the new Zara rack in the BRC shop.

Jacqui from Mummabstylish is wearing a new gifted top from Izabel with old Zara trousers and gifted Lotus Shoes sling backs.

Hilda from Over the Hilda borrowed her red shirt, which has sparkly bits on the pockets), and the sequinned blazer from her sister Rosie. Hilda's bag is from Folkster...4 years old .  The spanx leggings are several years old as are her boots. Photos were taken in The Grand hotel in Malahide.

Emma from Stylesplash, the Queen of colour, bought her sequin kimono on eBay.  Her velvet trousers are from Very, red top from River Island, charity shop necklace and boots from a local boutique.

I hope you enjoyed our Sparkle and Shine. I'll be wearing my peacock skirt today for Boxing Day with the family and grandchildren. Have a lovely day if you're celebrating today.

Do let us know in the comments if you had the chance to sparkle and shine over the festive period, at a party, work event or in your own home. Or  maybe you're pulling out the stops on New Year's Eve?

It's possibly the last post of 2022. There's no link-up on Wednesday but I may still write a short post!

  1. It is very comforting to see a fellow blogger out in the snow wearing beautiful but thin clothes. Just for a blog post. The things we do for our readers, right? Hope you are having a wonderful sparkly Christmas period.
