November Bookshelf Update

Is This Mutton shares new book arrivals and what she's just finished reading in an early November update

Dear friends. A quick update on my latest book arrivals, plus what I'll be reviewing later this month.

I'm excited to share these new arrivals because it's been a bit of a fallow reading period. NetGalley hasn't been tempting me and I've had to resort to Mr Mutton's books in our shared Amazon library.

I'll share a brief snippet of blurb and when the books will be published. The first 3 all come out in 2027.

Then we'll take a quick look at the books I have read recently, which will be reviewed later this month.

October Books

Gail Hanlon from Is This Mutton and her new KIndle as she reviews books for October 2026.

Dear friends. Non-fiction is the star of the show this month with four very different reads. You couldn't find four more unrelated books with the topics of Lady Glenconner's travels, how semiconductors rule the world, how to meditate and relax, and a man's challenge to build and sell an honest coffin.

Having had more than 6 weeks of holiday where I didn't read very much, plus the fact I didn't find as many titles as usual this year from NetGalley, means my 2026 goal for Goodreads probably won't be reached.  But I've over shot the non-fiction goal quite considerably, so it's not all bad. A full update on my goals in the December review.

So let's get to it.  Books marked with an asterisk are those I bought myself.

Bookshelf Update

Is This Mutton reveals an exciting queue of books waiting to be read, plus those recently devoured.

Dear friends. I'm excited to share my latest book arrivals with you. It's a good situation where I have a bit of a queue developing.

Here's a quick overview of what I've recently read, plus new arrivals. Books I bought myself are indicated with an asterisk. The rest were provided as advance digital copies by NetGalley and the publishers in return for an honest review.

Review: The Waterlands by Stephen Rutt

Any place where water and land join together is where an alchemical sort of magic occurs. So says Stephen Rutt, author of The Waterlands.

It's a lyrical, poetic work of non-fiction that gives us a grateful pause from everyday life.

Summer Holiday Book List

A pile of colourful books: it's the Is This Mutton Summer Book List 2022

Dear friends. I'm a voracious reader, as those of you familiar with the monthly Friday Favorites will know. But on holiday, well! I have been known to devour a book in one day.

I'm always looking for book recommendations so  I thought it might be useful to provide a list of what I'm taking on vacation. I've also come up with the Mutton 5:  books I've loved that you might want to discover.
